Education

I have a Ph.D. in Sociology from Georgia State University, an M.A. in Sociology from Georgia State University, and a BA in Sociology and Anthropology from Agnes Scott College.

Experience

I have experience tutoring students from early childhood through college undergraduates. I have helped high school students prepare for the SAT and ACT. I currently help college students prepare for the MCAT Social and Behavioral Science component. I am an exceptionally patient and adaptive teacher. I have experience teaching English language learners and students with neurological and learning differences, including gifted and talented students. I especially want to tutor students who may be struggling to succeed with learning or exam prep during the pandemic.

Hobbies

I live in Birmingham, Alabama, but I come from Georgia. I teach sociology at the college level professionally. My research focuses on the sociology of mental health, especially stress and anxiety. I enjoy spending time with my pets (2 dogs and 2 cats), reading non-fiction and novels, sewing, gardening, and volunteering in my community. My favorite sociological theorist is Jane Addams, my favorite novel is The Vegetarian by Han Kang, and my favorite ice cream is pistachio!
