Experience
I have had experience tutoring in writing for the past three years. Students who have taken with me have found a significant difference in their grades. I have also had experience helping students with studying for Literature exams, papers, and projects by helping them learn to analyze the text they are reading for a broader understanding of the work. I made a 25 on the ACT. As an English major at Calhoun Community College I maintained a 3.8 GPA and was nominated as one of the Top Ten Students of the University in my Sophomore Year. I maintained at 4.0 in all of my classes that related to my major. Classes taken: Composition 1 Composition 2 American Literature 1 and 2 Western Literature 1 and 2 British Literature 1 and 2 Introduction to Creative Writing Playwriting Beginning Screenwriting Advanced Screenwriting Public Speaking Oral Interpretation Play Analysis As a professional writer, my works have made it into numerous literary magazines, and my playwriting earned me first place in two categories at The Kennedy Center American Conference of Theatre Festival in 2010. I have been nominated for a scholarship to attend a Playwright's Intensive at the Kennedy Center this Summer based on my work at the Conference. I have had poems published in professional journals and plays that have been produced professionally as well. I want to be a tutor because I love talking about writing, the English language, and most of all for the ability to do what I love while helping another person. I get along very well with younger children and pre-teens, but I get along well with teenagers as well. I am very easygoing but I expect a lot from my students. I let them know from the beginning that I won't take it easy on them, but if they are giving me their best effort then I will make sure they get to where they need to be.
