Education

4.2 GPA BS/BA Biology/German: Experienced tutor with As or A+s in every subject or class tutored. BA in German Language and Literature, summa cum laude, The University of Alabama, May 2016 BS in Biology, summa cum laude, The University of Alabama, May 2016; recognized by faculty as most outstanding biology graduate.

Experience

In addition to tutoring peers through high school and college with success, I served as a teaching assistant for the Emerging Scholars Program at the University of Alabama, which seeks to involve students in research projects as early as their first semester of college. Previously, I have served as a band camp instructor at a high school in northern Alabama, as an AP chemistry tutor through Impact Alabama's College First program, and as a literacy tutor for struggling elementary school students through the University of Alabama Honors College's READ Alabama project. In completing a dual BA/BS degree program, I was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, widely considered the most prestigious honorary for undergraduates in the arts and sciences, as a junior. Upon my election, I received the Allen J. Going Award for attaining the highest grade point average among the Alpha of Alabama chapter's initiates. Additionally, I was recognized as the University's most outstanding biology graduate, graduating with the best academic record of any student studying biology. I received scholarship funding to study German conversation and German history from World War II to the present at Humboldt Universität zu Berlin during the summer of 2015. I would be delighted to serve elementary, middle, and high school students as well as college and university students who seek tutoring in those subjects I have studied most, namely, biology, chemistry, and German. I am also certainly open to helping with physics and mathematics, but students and/or their parents should realize these are not my primary areas of study. Hobbies

Outside of the classroom, I am an avid instrumentalist. I play, among other instruments, the piano, accordion, and French horn. Over the years, I have performed with the University Symphonic Band, University Chorus, and at a quarterly meeting of the Alabama Accordionists' Association. I was active in undergraduate research at the University of Alabama and enjoyed volunteering with Hospice of West Alabama. I will begin the MD program at UAB School of Medicine this fall.
