Experience
I have tutored elementary and middle school students with such organizations as Better Basics as well as freelance tutoring. While in college, planned and implemented a local GED tutoring program and saw several of my students earn their GED. I tutored ACT prep while in graduate school and was proud to see students who met with me very few times see a small improvement in their ACT scores while those who met with me for more than 8 sessions saw a 5-8 point increase in their ACT scores. I have helped various students improve their reading comprehension and writing skills, calling upon my vast writing experience from college and graduate programs. Most recently, I was employed as an education specialist at McWane Science Center giving me invaluable experience in teaching elementary and middle school STEM classes. This unconventional teaching experience exposed me to students from a huge variety of backgrounds, classrooms, ages, and grades. It gave me excellent experience in outside the box lessons I believe that every student can become a passionate, lifelong learner when given the proper tools and encouragement to succeed. As a tutor, I invest in my students to help set them up for success and find great pride in seeing them work and improve.

Hobbies
My greatest loves are my husband and daughter. My passions are running, coffee, and pasta. When I have time to myself I enjoy developing my skills as a writer through practice and reading. I am outgoing, friendly, and enjoy getting to know new people. I believe that an integral part of helping others succeed is understand personalities and learning styles so that we can adapt our teaching styles accordingly.
